UPDATE: Expanded Workbench Levels

Levels 7-10 of the Crafting Workbench have been released! Once you reach the new levels you can craft new weapons using ingredients from the lower levels. Additionally, the recipes for the three pre-Workbench weapons have been adjusted, as have their market sell prices.

COMING SOON: New Quests and Random Events

A selection of new quest hub quests and random events are in the works! These are being targeted to utilize (and reward) newer items that haven't yet been incorporated and will be released later this month. A changelog will be posted when they are live!

ACTIVITY UPDATE: Member of the Month Voting

As a reminder from last month's newsletter, one winner for Member of the Month will be decided via user voting! This voting will open later this month alongside the voting for Behr's Beauty Contest, so be sure to get your entries in!

PATREON UPDATE: As a notice for patrons, the Repair Kit blueprint from last month's goodie bag can now be added to your collections and is craftable in the Workbench! Likewise the Enchanted Hammer is now live. If you have an Enchanted Hammer in your inventory and an item currently crafting, you will now see a “skip” button on the Workshop page to the right of the remaining time. Clicking this button will (after a confirmation prompt) use your Enchanted Hammer to immediately finish the crafting process! This can be used on any craft with time remaining, but we recommend saving them for the higher level recipes with a lengthy craft time! (Note: For the time being the Enchanted Hammer can skip both Workbench and Cooking timers but this may change in the future.)

We thank you all for spending another year with us, and to our newcomers, we hope you enjoy your time with us this year. 2023 will be a bit different in terms of updates and events. In order to keep everyone on the same page, we’ll be going over what you can expect from this year.

Due to limited resources, we will be cutting down on some of the activities we offer. These activities were popular at our species’ inception, however, as we have grown over the past few years, we’ve seen a drastic decrease in participation. Activities such as Part-Timing and Random Contest will be discontinued until further notice. Next month, the Monthly Prompt will be replaced with a monthly user gallery that will operate similarly to Behr’s Beauty Contest. Members can submit their proudest works, and the winner will be voted on! The winner will be one of the Midveilers of the Month, with the second being rolled from the previous Midveiler of the Month entrants as happens now. Homeroom, Great Pet Rescue, Lottie’s Luck, and Crabby Chef will remain unchanged.

Though we are saying goodbye to some activities this year, they will be replaced by some exciting new additions to our site mechanics. This month, we are releasing an extension of the crafting area: the Workbench! In this area, you can turn crafting materials found in the foraging area into weapons and armors. Six levels are being released to start, and will follow with more advanced recipes later on. More projects are in the works, and will be periodically released throughout the year. You will need to have completed 100 Crafted Items to unlock the Workbench. To upgrade or check how many crafted items you have completed, simply visit your unlocked Crafting Workshop.

Events this year will include our annual events such as Enlightened, Shipwrecked, Halloween, and the Advent. We will not be introducing any new events this year. Our efforts will be placed into continuing to improve and add to gameplay. Growth will be slow but steady this year. 

We will rebalance the site as necessary over the next few months by observing patterns in crumb earnings. Treats will also be repurposed into new areas.

Some additional notes for this month:

• Several new crafting ingredients for the Workbench have been added to Foraging. For a limited time they be purchasable in the General Store with unlimited quantity (for the same price they can be re-sold to the Farmer's Market) until there are more in rotation.
• When foraging you can now obtain a higher quantity of the items you find! Most items will drop 2-3, while pets will remain 1.
• The higher level Workbench recipes will be released in the near future. We are ensuring there is balance in the recipes before releasing them all. As such, the Rough-Edged Sword, Flimsy Bow, and Basic Bomb will be temporarily un-craftable until the higher levels are released.
• The Crafting: Workbench Collection has been released!
• Don't forget, the Advent Prize Shop is still open and you can now discard your extra tokens!

Seasonal rollover is complete and it is officially WINTER in Midveil!

Trees have been cut down for the season and orchards cleared for lumber.
Seasonal seeds/saplings/starters are now appropriately purchasable from the Farmer's Market!
 

Part-Timing prompts have not been updated and the activity has been put on hold.
We are working to re-evaluate our activity structure in the new year and may be making some adjustments!
