Hey everyone! We wanted to address the concerns that were raised after the most recent news post. We hosted a live chat / QnA on Discord this morning to go over each change in detail and expand on our future plans for Strudel Cafe. We apologize to anyone who missed the live chat! We have created a google doc that highlights all of our talking points from the conversation.

Hello everyone!

This news post is coming a little early, because we have a LOT in store for us in the coming months. Our company filings have gone through successfully, and Strudel Cafe is now under the ownership of Midveil Games, LLC! This big change has been years in the making, and we still have a lot to consider in the months to come. We have discussed the future of Strudel Cafe at length, and we’d like to share with you a brief glimpse into our future plans.

Strudel Cafe started out as nothing more than a closed species, which eventually became an ARPG, and now, we are closer to a pet site in the way we function. Our site model is not quite traditional, and before proceeding with our filings, we have discussed the future of our site at length. Should we be a great ARPG? Or a great pet site experience? Our goal with Strudel Cafe has always been to provide a fun and welcoming environment for all of our users. As the site grows, we find more success in producing easy and accessible games for everyone to participate in, no matter their artistic inclination. Progression unlocks in Green Acres were our way of testing the waters for the future of the site. Going forward, we will be working on phasing out the ARPG aspect of our website.

Retired ARPGs will be moved to the forums for people to participate in, but they will no longer garner rewards in the same way they did before. For the most part, progression unlocks will be introduced in their stead. A few progression unlocks will be released in the upcoming rollover. These memories will remain on the site for a month before being retired, for anyone who would like to participate.

• Fishing will become open for all users automatically.
• Diving, Foraging, and Cloudchasing will be progression based.
• The General Store will open for all users automatically.
• The Crafting Station will unlock after a set amount of purchases at the General Store.
• “Make a Wish” will be retired. Fertilizer and Gacha Eggs will be added to the shops.
• Origins will eventually be phased out as well, however, we will be introducing activities to take their place. Origins Pets will grow via site participation attributed to a Featured Midveiler. 

We have partnered with a developer to introduce other varieties of games to our site. Funds gathered from our Patreon, official store, and MYO sales will be put towards payouts for developers and contractors. In the months to come, we will be seeking out contractors to help us with various projects around the site, such as maps and assets. Job openings for contractors will be posted as they become available. If you’d like to help support the website’s developments, check out our official Patreon! 

While we work on the intricacies of our business model going forward, we are temporarily giving the mods a hiatus while we work on restructuring. Our monthly events will be put on pause until August. Aside from the lack of events and the mod break, activity on the site should proceed as per usual. Jen, Ren, and I will be approving designs and submissions in the meantime. There has been some confusion surrounding my announcement of a break in Discord. This announcement was only meant to disclose that I would not be doing events for the summer. Since no events were ever announced on the website, I chose to only do a quick Discord announcement so as not to incite any unnecessary worry. I see now that this backfired, and I apologize for any confusion I caused. My break is being taken specifically to focus my efforts on the aforementioned subjects. A few members interpreted my announcement as saying that Mimix would be put on further pause.

I am happy to announce, however, that Mimix have been completed and are already set to be released by rollover. You may notice that submissions for the Mimix masterlist are currently disabled. We are currently working on adjusting the masterlist with all the new changes. More information will come available at rollover, but a few details to hold you over:

• Mimix are now separated into five categories: Insect, Aquatic, Reptilian, Avian, and Mammalian. All pre-existing glubglub MYOs will be automatically converted to Mammalian MYOs, so members can choose whichever rarity they would like.
• An unlimited Mimix MYO sale will be posted in June. Prices are $15/$15/$25/$25/$35.
• Mimix lore has been changed slightly, however, the Origins will not be updated due to the aforementioned decisions. You are free to interpret and depict your mimix’s backstory however you’d like! 
• No pre-existing glubs will require changes.
• Cursed Mimix, along with special mutations, will be released in August.

Due to this, we will be pushing the monthly MYO sale back a little bit! We will host 20 slots as per usual, for strudels, jollies, and thimblets. Afterwards, there will be an unlimited Mimix MYO sale for people to participate in! 

More information will be made available in the upcoming rollover newsletter, or as it becomes available. Thank you all so much for your support over these past four years. The site will be taking it “easy” over the summer, but this is only to prepare for bigger things to come.

As an added bonus for those who participated in the Enlightened Event, special Rainbow Pupa have been sent out!

All users who had a Registration Sheet approved will receive one Rainbow Pupa, and all users who completed (and had accepted) at least one prompt will receive an additional Rainbow Pupa!

These special Goodie Bags allow for selection of one Morph Potion, one Pet, and one Mutation Item. Specifics can be seen on the Catalogue entry!

Additionally, for the Goodie Bags being given as part of the Birthday Wishes event, these will be sent out at the conclusion of the event all at once.

Happy May, everyone! We've made it through another month. As always, before we dive into this month, make sure to check out last month's winners in the Winner’s Showcase!

The Enlightened Plot is finally coming to a close, but you've still got a few more days to finish! We'll be rewarding all users who've participated with a complimentary pupa! We received some comments from our suggestion box from members who were unhappy with how the RNG worked for this event. We keep past items in our prize pools for members who may not have been around the previous years to earn them. However, we hear your concerns! Unfortunately, it was a little bit too late in this event to change things, but we think we've found a solution. We will be distributing a Rainbow Pupa to every member who submitted at least one prompt in the event! This item will allow you to choose one morph potion, one insect, and one mutation item! We hope this is a happy compromise, and we will keep these suggestions in mind for future events to come! 

Moving on, we're going to take a small breather and enjoy a relaxing MYO event! We're inviting all of our users to make a companion jollybean for our Birthday Wishes event! As we prepare for the Mimix update and our summer event, we figured this would be a nice break for everyone! Everyone who participates in the event will not only receive a free MYO slot, but also a Celebration Goodie Bag with some of our annual birthday items. I'll (Loppy) personally be working on some Celebration pet rebases throughout the month to freshen things up a bit! Continuing on the theme of birthdays, you'll also notice that Crabby Chef and Lottie's Luck have a twist this month! We'll be asking members to recreate site items, but that's not all! Entering these activities will enter you in for a chance to win a custom slot! Two lucky winners will receive their very own custom design, so tie up your apron strings, preheat your oven, and get cooking!

Separate from this month's events, we'll also be rolling out a few smaller changes in the months to come! These will be highlighted in change logs, however, here's a brief glimpse of what we've changed and what we're working on:
 

• The Monthly Prompt's crumb reward has been increased to 8k crumbs.
• From henceforth, the “Featured Activity” will be Member of the Month! This means that entering MoTM will make you eligible to be featured for the next month! We will be renaming it to prevent any confusion that may arise. Reward kindness with kindness!
• In an effort to maximize efficiency, we'll be phasing out “sticker borders” on items. If you see items that no longer have outlines, this is not a glitch!

And finally… Strudel Cafe is going LLC! To celebrate our third birthday, the development team has finally pushed the filings for LLC. This will open us up to a lot more opportunities, and we are so excited for everything we have in store! We'll be working on our first merch launch soon, and will be sending out surveys to see what our members would like to see from us the most! Jen, Ren, and I have big plans for the future of Strudel Cafe, and we are so excited for all of you to be in on the ride!

Happy April, everyone! We've made it through another month. As always… Before we dive into this month, make sure to check out last month’s winners in the Winner’s Showcase!

The Enlightened Plot event continues as arborlings everywhere flock to the forest! Make sure to check out the event page if you haven't already! There's still plenty of time to join and collect all sorts of goodies. The event ends May 4th at rollover! This month will be a relatively quiet one as we continue to make headway on the rest of the interaction pages as well as a handful of other goodies we've got cooking up! Keep an eye on the news for the new beanie area, as it will likely be hitting the site this month. As a note, I (Loppy) will be undergoing surgery on the 9th. Delays may occur, and I appreciate your cooperation and patience in these times! To make sure there are no bumps or major mishaps along the way, we will not be doing our annual “Birthday Bash” crafting event… but what we have in store will be exciting all the same! In May, we will be hosting a jollybean MYO event with the theme “Birthday Wishes!” If you have friends who have been raring to get into the cafe, now's the time to give them a heads up!
